Go Green With Eco-friendly Flooring

At iFLOOR, we understand the importance of trees to world health and world economy. The use of sustainable and renewable resources – trees included – rests at the heart and soul of our business.

At iFLOOR, we simply will not sell any products made from illegally acquired wood products. We discourage "slash and burn" practices, and the harvest of old growth timber. We're also a proud member of Built Green, an environmentally-friendly, non-profit, residential building program.

 Bamboo Flooring
What is bamboo?

Bamboo is a perennial plant belonging to the grass family Poaceae. It grows in diverse climates – from cold mountains to hot, tropical regions – reaching heights of 125 feet or more. Bamboo is considered the fastest growing woody plant, reaching maturity in five to six years. Bamboo has found many uses; from food preparation to construction, its thin and flimsy appearance belies its true value.

 Cork Flooring
What is cork?

Harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree, Quercus suber, cork consists mostly of suberin, a waxy substance that prevents water from penetrating the cork tissue. This provides resistance to moisture, making cork possible for installation in places where other flooring types are not advisable.

  Recycled Underlayment
What is Recycled Underlayment?

‘Green’ is fast becoming the name of the game in underlayment. In the not too distant past, manufacturers made underlayment for a variety of reasons, including durability, cushioning, sound abatement and moisture resistance. While those characteristics are still important, underlayment makers are now creating products that are also environmentally friendly. With the aid of new technologies, these products are not only greener than ever before, but more durable as well. Our Sound Step Rubber underlayment is available in two thicknesses, 2mm and 6mm, and is made from resilient 100% recycled rubber.

 Recyclable Rugs
What are recyclable rugs?

Many rugs and carpets are made from nylon – a man-made product that will not break down over time. Concerned about the environmental impact of their products, Shaw Rugs implemented a nylon recycling program – and now makes all of their nylon area rugs out of recyclable nylon. In a revolutionary closed-loop recycling program, Shaw collects old rugs and carpets at collection centers throughout the country, processes them, and recycles the material into their new rugs.

We’re tree huggers. (And proud of it.)

And we plant trees. Over the next 12 months, we’ll plant 100,000 trees world-wide through a partnership with Trees for the Future.
