Can I repair my laminate flooring once it has been indented or damaged?
Although laminate is very durable it is normal to find scratches. Fortunately, there is a simple remedy with the aid of a laminate repair kit. You can find at any local flooring store or online retailers. For serious damage, it might be necessary to replace the damaged boards. The introduction of glue less laminate flooring has resulted in a floor that is both easy to install and repair. For this you will need additional laminate flooring. When ordering the flooring of your choice you should always order extra just is case of unexpected damages.

Can you install a cork floor over radiant heat?
Cork is a natural insulator so just by having a heated house; the floor will draw the warmth. If you still want to install radiant heat, it has posed no problems. The floor may take slightly longer warm up but the heat will be retained efficiently. Only floating floors should be installed over radiant heat systems. Floating floors tend to go through normal contraction and expansion as a unit since they are not attached to the sub-floor.

I have a large dog and I’ve been told I should not have hardwood. Is this true?
No, you can have large dogs on hardwood floors. While no floor is scratch proof some will resist scratches more than others. Plus, some hardwood floors can be refinished through out time unlike man made floors such as laminate and vinyl.

I live in a multi-level condo building. I am told that I cannot install hardwood unless it meets the sound proofing requirements. What do I need to do?
There are several sound proof systems available to properly install hardwood flooring in multi - level buildings. Cork underlayment is a natural product and an insulator. Most recommended sound proofing product is 6mm cork underlayment. Which can be used with a floating floor installation. Since cork is a very dense product it is usually recommend by most condo associations.

I want hardwood flooring in my basement, but I’ve been told I can’t put hardwood below grade. Is this true?
Solid hardwood should not be installed below grade. However, engineered hardwood can be installed in basements as long as you do not have an existing moisture problem.

My flooring is bowing and will not lay flat?
Bowing is a common misconception when flooring will not lay flat. This is usually caused while the flooring is being stored for however long. In some case if the flooring is stored on a shorter pallet than the length of flooring and flooring hangs over the sides of pallet this will show the appearance of bowing. Remedy is very simple! Just turn cartons upside down and allow to acclimate for no less than 48 hours.

What is Cork Flooring?
Cork flooring is a flooring material made out of the bark from cork oak trees. Due to the natural insulation and water resilience of cork flooring it's suitable for commercial and residential use in all rooms and situations.

What is the difference between “horizontal” and “vertical” bamboo flooring?
A natural bamboo stock is hollow and the walls of the plant are fairly thin. Strips of bamboo are therefore laminated together to make our 5/8” flooring. The terms “horizontal” and “vertical” refer to the manner in which bamboo strips are laminated together. In the horizontal style, the strips are laid flat so the top surface shows the bamboo’s natural growth rings, or “knuckles.” In the vertical style, the strips are turned on their sides and laminated together in long, slender rows creating a different appearance.

What type of finish is used on Bamboo Floors?
The most typically used finish is UV Cured Polyurethane. Which is a solvent base polyurethane that is more durable and moisture resistant than other surface finishes. Another commonly used finish is Aluminum Oxide. Aluminum oxide finishes are designed to add a layer of scratch resistance. The aluminum oxide layer seals the surface of the board and guards against oxidization also.

Why does the flooing I recieved does not match the sample I orderd?
Although bamboo used for flooring is always the same species, there are significant differences caused by environmental conditions. Where it grows, what time of year it is harvested, the age of the grass, the soil chemistry and the amount of rain are all variables that will affect the variation, hardness and stability. Variances can not be as controlled as with trees. Typical percentage differences can be between 15% to 25% from the sample you received.
