Craftsmanship is a Matter of Family Pride

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia Forest Products, Columbia Flooring is a leading manufacturer and marketer of hardwood and laminate flooring. The company brings over 40 years of expertise in hardwood veneers to every floor it produces.

Founded in 1957, parent company Columbia Forest Products is North America’s largest manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer. Employee-owned and based in Portland, Oregon, Columbia employs more than 3,500 and operates facilities in locations throughout the United States, Canada and Malaysia.

The company employs strict quality control measures from the forest to the finished product. Its veneer and plywood operations are fully integrated with in-house supply of hardwood veneers for faces and backs, as well as self-sufficient green ends for fir, poplar and aspen veneer cores.

In 1999, Columbia's Klamath Falls, Oregon plant began producing its plywood using logs harvested from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified forestland. Today, its other facilities produce certified products as well. SmartWood, a non-profit subsidiary of the Rain Forest Alliance, certifies Columbia Forest Products to FSC requirements.

With a full range of domestic and imported hardwood panels, its products can be found in high-end cabinetry, furniture, architectural millwork and beautiful homes across the continent.

The company's Columbia Flooring division is headquartered in Danville, Virginia. It has manufacturing operations in Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and West Vriginia. The company manufactures engineered and solid hardwood and laminate floors in a variety of grains and wood species.

A Cut Above The Rest

Columbia veneer is created using Northern Appalachian hardwoods like birch, red oak, maple, ash, poplar, cherry, hickory, pine, and walnut. To complement its domestic production, the company's international division began importing hardwood plywood in 1995. Since then, Columbia has grown to become the largest importer of Russian birch plywood in North America. The company also sources flooring products from Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Africa and countries throughout South America and Europe.
