APC Cork - Old world elegance, new world style.

APC Cork is known worldwide for top-of-the-line quality cork floors, and as one of the leading cork providers in North America. Its products are popular for both commercial and residential applications, as flooring or raw materials in making floors.

Cork has been used by the flooring industry since the turn of the century. With APC Cork's technologically-advanced processing lines, the company is able to offer floors with better durability and modern patterns and colors for today's homes.

The Pro-Environment Floor

Aside from providing a unique look, cork floors also provide an environmentally-safe flooring alternative. APC Cork uses raw materials extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree, which only grows in the forests of Mediterranean countries. APC sources its raw materials from areas with a large concentration of cork flooring, like the plantations found in Spain and Portugal.

APC Cork also contributes to the preservation of forests through its special harvesting method. Only the bark is peeled off to be used for flooring. The manufacturer only does this once every nine to fourteen years for each tree, and the tree itself is never felled.

Making Homes Better

The bark of the oak tree was designed by Mother Nature to protect the tree during its average 500-year lifespan. Using this also means providing the same protection from Mother Nature onto your home.
    Cork naturally:
  • Resists fire - The volatile climate and drastic temperature changes of its natural environment have molded the oak tree to develop high resistance to fire.
  • Repels insects- It is also naturally resistant to more than 38 species of insects, including termites.
  • Has hypoallergenic properties- Cork prevents the development of microbes and mildew. It is also anti-static and does not retain dust.
  • Provides comfort underfoot - Cork gives under compression. It bounces back naturally so recovery marks left by furniture will leave a minimal indentation, less noticeable than on wood, carpet or vinyl floors.
The oak tree's genetic architecture also gives it great thermal insulation and acoustic suppression capabilities. The bark is a vegetal tissue made by an agglomeration of dead cells filled with air and lined with alternating layers of cellulose and waxy substance called suberin.

The presence of over 100 million air cells per cubic inch and the prism shape of that cellular structure incapacitate the effects of temperature and sound. This noise reduction characteristic makes cork floors a great asset for applications such as multi-level housing, office spaces, museums and places of worship.

APC Cork Floors are protected by a new and stronger "D-Wear" Finish, consisting of three coats of durable acrylic matte varnish, and making the floors all the more resistant to spills and stains. D-Wear also gives APC products a more "orange-peel" look and allows for an extended warranty coverage.

    APC Cork floors are:
  • Offered in natural tone and designer colors
  • Protected by "D-Wear" finish
  • Backed by a 25-year Residential Warranty
  • Durable and easy to maintain
