White Oak is very durable and is one of the finest hardwood lumbers to come by. It derives from Canada and North Eastern United States woods. White Oak is also call the Appalachian Oak, Stave Oak and Encino. Oak ranges in color from beige to creamy tan depending on how long it was left to process. White Oak is a heartwood that has medium bending qualities and has a finer texture than its cousin the Red Oak. It is a straight grain wood that has a medium bending and crushing strength. The best quality about White Oak is that fact that it has tyloses. Tyloses give the White Oak flooring a closed cellular structure. The cellular structure makes White Oak water and rot resistant.
