This engineered Birch flooring is offered in a plywood core construction with a tongue and groove joint. This allows for all three installation methods; glue down, nail down and float. This also means that this flooring is a good choice whether installing over a concrete or wood subfloor, either on or below grade. Birch has a similar hardness rating to that of Red Oak, the most common hardwood flooring in North America, registering at 1260 on the Janka Scale. The 7 layers of UV cured polyurethane/aluminum oxide finish provide for a high scratch resistance as well. We recommend this flooring for almost every room in the home, save for bathrooms and laundry areas.
