This is EXCELLENT flooring for the price. In looking at the wood and the finish, the quality is evident. While nothing is scratch-proof, it is fairly difficult to make an indention in it. I was very impressed with the consistency of the grain. The vast majority of pieces are VERY clear wood with each box having a couple of pieces that are a little different. Not different in a bad way, just enough to make the pattern look really nice. I even found a couple of pieces that look like birds eye maple. Out of the 15 boxes we installed so far, there has only been one piece that was slightly warped (lengthwise). Installation is incredibly easy (and fast) once you get the hang of it. Preparation and cutting take a lot longer than the actual laying of the floor. I will say that since it is 5" wide, you have a little less room for error and you have to make a few more cuts. But, the reality is that the pattern just looks drop dead gorgeous and I will take the extra cuts any day to have that pattern. Bottom line is that this is a GREAT floor!
