Taking care of flooring may help boost home's resale value
Taking care of flooring may help boost home's resale value It is never a bad time to improve the resale value of one's home. Well-maintained flooring can help a home develop a cohesive look - attractive to interested buyers - and perhaps even add value to the abode.
Regardless of the particular floor covering, immaculate floors instantly improve a home's aesthetics. Karol Nickell, editor-in-chief of Fresh Home magazine, told SFGate.com that flooring "can help create an impression of spaciousness and airiness."
Experts also suggest taking up wall-to-wall carpeting and refinishing the hardwood that may lurk beneath it. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, 90 percent of real estate agents said houses with well-maintained wood floors sell for higher prices than those without hardwood flooring.
Those interested in installing new flooring, opt for a light colored covering. Nickell suggested to the website, "Whether it's a floating laminate floor, tile or a natural 'green' alternative, lighter-tone flooring can make formerly drab areas appear modern and streamlined."
While maintaining floors may seem like a daunting task, with the arrival of spring cleaning it is the perfect time to fix-up floors and hopefully boost the value of one's home.
