Bamboo flooring offers stylish, environmentally friendly option
Bamboo flooring offers stylish, environmentally friendly option Green homes will be in the spotlight at the Clark County Parade of Homes in Clark County, Washington, later this month. The Columbian reports that the four houses on display contain a bevy of energy-saving appliances, such as low-flow faucets.
"All of these houses will probably cost less than $300 a year for heating and cooling," Ryan Zygar, president of Tamerack Homes, told the news source.
However, there are many other facets to going green other than using energy-efficient appliances. Incorporating environmentally friendly materials into the decor is another way houses can be eco-friendly.
Homeowners who want to utilize natural elements in the home without harming the environment may want to install bamboo flooring. According to TLC.com, bamboo's root system remains intact after harvest, allowing the plant to grow back to mature height and be harvested again, years later.
Design experts also say that bamboo flooring is ideal in a variety of rooms, as it is available in a wide range of styles and colors to match any number of design schemes.
