We have two planks (that I've noticed!) that have a tapered surface width above the tongue. In other words, when installed correctly and fitting as tightly as possible (with no expansion/contraction problems), there is a triangular gap between that plank and the groove-side of the adjoining plank. I wish the installer had noticed this and left those two planks out, but it's too late now. Not a big deal, and it was only two planks, but it could've been better.
