Hardwood flooring can keep bedroom dust free
Hardwood flooring can keep bedroom dust free Although many people expect their bedroom to be a place of rest and relaxation, the Naples Daily News reports that they may be home to a collection of allergens that can be damaging to ones health.
According to the news source, experts say that dust mites, bed bugs and other contaminants can be the root of significant health concerns for those with asthma or allergies. Dr Brett E Stanaland says that one of the most common places for dust to congregate is in pillows, so making use of lightweight dust mite covers could be beneficial.
Along with pillows, Dr Stanaland added that carpets can be a safe haven for allergens as well. While vacuuming may provide a temporary fix, it will not solve the problem.
"Hardwood floors are much healthier when it comes to removing dust mites, and in our research the only place it made a difference in patients' health is when we removed the carpet in the bedroom," he told the news provider.
Of course, hardwood flooring offers homeowners many other benefits in addition to keeping allergens at bay. The National Wood Flooring Association reports that 90 percent of real estate agents report that homes with wood flooring sell faster and at a higher price than those with other floor coverings.
